Welcome! HVE PTO is a non-profit organization dedicated to enhancing the educational and social experiences of the young children of the Happy Valley Elementary and strengthening the connections between educators and families. We are staffed entirely by volunteers who work in close partnerships with school staff, as well as the entire HVE community. From rebuilding the school playground, to providing funding for additional instructional assistants, to offering classroom stipends and grade enrichment opportunities, the HVE PTO has a long history of meeting our school's needs. We rely entirely on donations of funds, time, and resources and could not fulfill our mission without the support and engagement of parents, caregivers, and teachers. Thank you!

5.24.2022 Uvalde, Texas

As we sent our children off to school this morning, we thought of the children who did not come home on May 24 from the Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas and the families shattered by the unfathomable violence against the most precious members of our society. We want to find the words to convey that our thoughts are with those families and the community devastated by the violence, but that seems almost too trite of a response. Hearts are forever broken, lives are forever shattered, and things will never be the same for 21 families. And so we are left with this: Take care of one another. Connect with your loved ones, friends, and neighbors. Give your kiddos extra hugs tonight. Life is precious and you just don't know when it might get taken away.

Bringing Happy Back!

The Happy Valley Fun Run made its triumphant return on May 21! Started initially by an HVE PE teacher, the PTO and the City of Happy Valley have hosted the Fun Run together for more than 40 years. The Nelson High School band played music as 458 runners, walkers, and dashers completed the course under the watchful eyes of the Happy Valley Police Department, Fire Department and volunteers to then be greeted by dozens of sponsors, vendors, and even a carnival! Wow, what a day! In addition to all the sponsors and vendors, we wanted to recognize the special contributions of:

Safety First!

The PTO, in close partnership with the City of Happy Valley, created the Take30! School Safety Campaign. Take30! is designed to encourage drivers and pedestrians to take an active role in establishing safe habits and routines when using the roads. By partnering together, we are committed to generating valuable conversations that decrease accidents and ensure healthy and safe road behaviors. To learn more about how Take30! came to be, check out the April issue of HV NewsThe PTO sends the warmest THANKS to the City of Happy Valley and the Happy Valley Police Department for listening to our concerns and partnering with us on solutions. On May 20, we jointly hosted our first Walk and Roll to School event that we hope further raised awareness about safety. A crosswalk safety enforcement operation followed.

Please check our the City's and PTO's school safety campaign pages to learn more, and don't miss the safety video put together by our very own HV Middle School!

Ms. Pearson's Class Fundraiser for Ukraine!

Ms. Pearson's class has been learning all about how to be good global citizens. Following a class vote, they decided to help the children of Ukraine with food, water, and shelter. They set a goal to raise $2,000 for Save the Children, a humanitarian aid organization that helps protect children from post effects of war and all funds collected will go directly to Save the Children's Ukraine Relief Fund. This is a spectacular citizenship effort by Ms. Pearson's class and we are proud of the kids' leadership! Please help by donating here.

Welcome to Kindy, class of 2034!

Please join us for Kindy Orientation night on May 26, 4:30-5:30pm at HVE! See the school, meet the teachers and the PTO, visit the classrooms and make new friends. Kona Ice will be there to welcome class of 2034! And if you want to know more about day-to-day classroom activities of our youngest students, check out these short videos about your child's kindergarten and first grade day. Enjoy these peeks into the classroom.
